How To Start A Rock Band

How To Start A Rock Band,

..that’s the article I saw from a defuct website called razile.com.  It basically reposted some article he probably read from a magazine or a book and now I am going to repost it here… guilty too, I guess.

You don’t have to study music for years to start a rockin’ band, and you don’t have to spend a fortune on gear. It’s one the best ways to have a fun, and it exercises your creativity and your brain cells too. Learn three or four basic chords and, voila! — you can play a hundred songs. You’ll need some basic equipment and a place to play.

Just Follow These Simple Tips and your on your way!1. Get a guitar (or drums or keyboards, kahit bass basta rock musical intrument) and learn those three chords! These are the basics that everyone starts out with: G, C, D or A, E, D are the easiest. You can learn on any old guitar, electric or acoustic. Learn those chords at madali na ang mga susunod na steps. Learn a few a more and you can play almost anything.

2. Make a place to play. You can convert a bedroom to a practice studio by installing some inexpensive soundproofing materials. Use carpeting, pieces of foam, and blankets to cover the walls and floor. Or ung tray daw ng itlog (not the plastic one) helps dampen the sound.3. Get an electric guitar and amp. Check eBay for some good deals. Many music stores can set you up with a starter kit at a very reasonable price.

4. Get at least one microphone, and a stand to go with it. Playing songs is a lot more fun when someone’s singing! The mic can be plugged into one of the guitar amps if you don’t have a P.A. system.

5. Recruit your personnel. A trio is an excellent way to start that’s an electric guitar, a drummer, and a bass player. There are tons of new players out there dying for people to play with.

6. Create a song list. You and your bandmates will want to agree on some songs that you all like and want to play. For starters, five songs is a good number.

7. Learn the chords and words to those songs! The web is full of lyrics and chords for your favorite songs. Just do a Google search giving the name of the song and the words lyrics or chords. If you’re ambitious, sit down with a recording and try to pick out the chords yourself by ear. There’s no better ear-training in the world.

8. Now put it all together. Gather your bandmates and their equipment in your practice room and run through your five songs. You might want to bring printouts of the chords and lyrics

9. Organize a party with friends and family where you can perform your songs and show off how much your new band rocks!
